The Junior School was built on land that previously had been used for netball, volleyball courts and ballgames. The new Junior School was opened by the Governor of Queensland Major General Peter Arnison, AO on 4 April 1998. It was dedicated by Archbishop Hollingsworth.
The opening of the new Ambiwerra sporting fields freed up land on Ruthven Street and created the opportunity for a purpose-built Junior School to be built.
